Healthy Teens App provides information on sexual health Heading link

A blurry person, face unclear, holds their phone out to the camera, where the Healthy Teans App home screen is visible. An inset of the app icon appears on the lower right corner.

The overarching goal of the Healthy Teens app is to provide access to up-to-date and accurate sexual health information. The content is based on science and written by experts to promote health and wellness; prevent unplanned pregnancy; and reduce the risks of contracting HIV and/or other sexually transmitted infections (STIs, also called STDs).

The app can help improve teens’ ability to better understand their reproductive health with links to resources, support and published guidelines.

According to teen statistics

  • 65% of all teens had sex by the time they are seniors in high school
  • 39.8% did not use a condom the last time they had sex
  • 33.7% had sex during the previous 3 months
  • 76.1% did not use birth control pills or Depo-Provera to prevent pregnancy the last time they had sex

Increased numbers of sexual partners create a greater risk to contract a sexually transmitted infection.

The purpose of the Healthy Teens app is to fill a gap, specifically the need for a comprehensive, centralized source of information about teen reproductive health which is evidence-based drawing on published guidelines.
